Feb 12 2010...Dumbest Generation

In response to the video we watched concerning our generation,
I completely disagree with everything that professor said about my generation. We where called "lazy and ignorant" when really HE isn't taking the time to look at the positive side to our new technology, and our generation as a whole. Concerning his matter of us not being interested in the classics...every generation has people who are smarter than others, and some that are truly idiots. OUR generation has people who are interested in the classics, and the arts, while others are interested in other things such as sports. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but to accuse TEENAGERS of not studying the Smithsonian after class is ridiculous. Another thing that bothered me is him saying that we use our technology as a waste of time to just talk to each other. While some of that may be true, our technology has been faster and more efficient than any other generation known to date. We can simultaneously write a paper while we communicate with our friends about where to get lunch. Our generation is not the dumbest, but after all that is happening in the media, probably the smartest, and best connected to ever be.

  1. I agree. At our fingertips, we have so much knowledge and technology, more than I'm sure anyone ever imagined. I think it's great. I don't think that were the dumbest generation because we choose to have a life full of friends. Who cares if we talk to our friends all the time. It doesn't mean were dumb. For all he knows we could be texting questions about an upcoming test, that's studying. Lol.

  2. I have not looked at everyone's posts regarding Dr. Baulerin and his "dumbest generation" none sense but i am getting the idea from reading a few posts that mostly everyone thinks that this guy is a nut. He is putting way to much thought into his findings. No scientific evidence to back up his claims. Its just his "idea". I could come up with the idea that using fabric softener causes ignorance... No evidence but its a claim. I believe that all of Dr. Baulerins ideas are just claims. He should be fired.

  3. Dude you're definitely right. That professor, well, I don't even know what the hell he was thinking when he made all of these comments, and I'd like to see where he's getting his statistics. This guy, in my mind, was a joke. I'm not too sure if he even said one thing that positive about our generation. He certainly didn't say anything about how his generation enabled us to get like this, since tey are our parents.
